This comet flying by Earth today is called “Wirtanen” meaning “river” (h/t reader in comments). It will cross the celestial river (Milky Way) right around the solstice/Christmas (~Dec 21-25) simultaneously with the Sun which also annually crosses the Milky Way around the solstice and aligns with cities located around the Tropic of Capricorn including “Rio” (de Janeiro), meaning “River”.

To be more precise though Rio aligns with the Sun on ~Dec 10 and ~Jan 1. The latter, New Year’s Day, is quietly reflected in the city’s full name Rio de Janeiro meaning “River of January”.
