Ukrainian fighters (many of them civilians) and their leader Zelensky, who was a comedian/actor who played president of Ukraine in a very popular TV show before becoming actual president, are staying in the city defending against Putin's invaders, fighting for their freedom and democracy, knowing they can't win, they will quite likely die, and that there is no help coming.
